I enjoyed the Vita dinner at nol hakone myojindai. The dishes looked attractive, tasted good and were served with care. I would choose it for an evening built around enjoying a hotel meal, rather than as the cheapest way to eat in Hakone.

Three adults ate at crescita during our self-funded stay around late September 2026. Here are the food photos, our actual dining costs and the details I would check before adding dinner to a booking.

No meals or accommodation were provided by the hotel. The photographs show our seasonal menu, not a promise of the dishes served today. Practical information was checked on October 16, 2026.

What kind of dinner is Vita?

crescita serves Western-style cuisine with an Italian influence. Our meal was a sequence of individually presented courses, including pasta, fish, duck and dessert. It was different from the Japanese kaiseki meal you might associate with a traditional onsen ryokan.

My impression was simple: the food was good, but the overall style did not strongly evoke a traditional Hakone inn. That does not mean there were no local ingredients—our pasta, for example, used Hakone-area pork.

The menu from our stay listed a vegetable opening course; lightly cooked bonito with fig and eggplant; Hakone-area pork pancetta and chestnut ragù; sea bream in a Viennoise style; charcoal-grilled Omi duck with pumpkin gnocchi and purée; and sweet potato Mont Blanc.

The autumn ingredients gave the dinner a seasonal feel. The presentation was attractive without being the only thing the meal had going for it: I was happy with the flavors and the staff’s service as well.

The bread-and-salad sauce was a highlight

One of my strongest food memories was something I did not photograph: the anchovy clam-chowder sauce served with the bread and salad. It was particularly delicious. That is how I remember the sauce, rather than a verified official menu name, but it stood out alongside the main courses.

What dinner actually cost us

Our Vita course cost JPY 12,430 per person. For three people, including three restaurant beers, the dining bill was:

Item Total for our group
Three Vita courses JPY 37,290
Three beers JPY 3,853
Restaurant dinner total JPY 41,143

Split equally, that is about JPY 13,714 per person. We also spent JPY 1,800 on three glasses of wine from the lounge dispenser afterwards. Those drinks are not included in the restaurant total above.

I found it useful to budget for drinks as well as the course. Enjoying a beer with dinner and another drink later changes the total compared with the menu’s food-only price.

Should you book a dinner-inclusive room plan?

Public-booking examples checked on October 16, 2026 included a Standard Twin with breakfast from JPY 46,550 for two adults, and a Standard Twin with dinner and breakfast from JPY 74,800 for two. These were advertised minimums before points-based discounts, not matched quotes for the same stay date.

Do not assume that a dinner-inclusive plan includes Vita. The Ikyu plan checked during preparation listed its dinner as “rapporti,” while the hotel’s restaurant page separately listed Vita. Read your chosen plan’s course description before booking. Nor should you subtract these two starting prices and treat the difference as a fixed dinner supplement.

Price examples: Ikyu hotel listings and the Standard Twin dinner-and-breakfast plan, both in Japanese. Rates depend on dates, room category and availability. A meal already included in your room plan should not be added to your budget a second time.

When I would add dinner—and when I would reconsider

Your priority How I would decide
Relaxing at the hotel for the evening Dinner is a good option: the meal becomes part of the stay.
A Western-style course with drinks Our meal was a good fit. Include beverages in the budget.
Traditional Japanese kaiseki Check the menu carefully; this was a different style of dining.
Keeping overall costs down Compare real quotes for your dates, including transport if dining out.

We did not eat at restaurants outside the property, so I cannot recommend a specific alternative from this trip or claim a particular saving. If you plan to go out, confirm opening days, reservations and your return transport.

Reservations and dietary requirements

The official restaurant page checked on October 16, 2026 listed Vita at JPY 12,430 including tax and service, with dinner entry times of 17:30 or 19:40 and reservations required by 17:00 the previous day. Prices, courses and availability can change.

If you have allergies or require vegetarian, vegan or halal food, contact the hotel before booking. I have not verified that a suitable replacement menu can be provided. Our own meal included ingredients such as meat, fish and anchovy.

Check the official English restaurant page.

Would I have dinner here again?

Yes, if I wanted another relaxed evening of good food at the hotel. I was satisfied with both the cooking and service, and the sauce with the bread and salad was memorable.

For me, the decision is about the kind of trip you want: a stay where dinner is an event, or a stay where the room is mainly a base for exploring. Vita made sense for the former.
